HA1 Task 3 Analysis

 Web Banners / Attractors

Tiffany & Co. on Vogue.co.uk
The first advertisement is from Vogue.co.uk, and it features an advert for Tiffany & Co. Jewellers. This advert has a teal background with black text and pictures of their product, which stand out from the background. This advert fits well with the advertising space as this product would be featured as an advert in the magazine and relates to the theme of the website, fashion. Vogue is mainly aimed at designer areas of fashion, which again relates to the advert because Tiffany & Co. Jewellers is a high end jewellers. The advert is well placed on the website because it appears just below the newest story on Vogue and several times as you scroll down. It makes the viewers eye go directly to it because of the colour theme. It also gives the viewer an idea that they could have the Vogue lifestyle by buying this product, by comparing the advert to the newest stories above it and comparing the product to the featured article. This advert compared to the other two adverts relates well to the advertising space and the theme of the website which is what the intended target audience would like to look at.

Braun on MTV.co.uk
The second advertisement is from MTV.co.uk and it features an advert for Braun which is a german consumer product company. The advert features a gradient background of the colours black, silver and white with the company logo and information about the product in white over the black part of the banner. on the lighter side of the banner, there is a scroll menu of where this particular product is available to purchase. The picture of the product features in the middle of the banner alongside an offer. This advert appeals more to women as some of the text is either pink or in a pink circle. I think the advertising space is well placed as it noticeable as soon as you go onto the website, and it is featured twice, making it more attracting to the eye. I think Braun chose to advertise on MTV.co.uk because of MTV's target audience of around 17+, which they would appeal to the women of that target audience more because of the typical things that age range would do such as going out clubbing which would mean they would want perfect skin, (such as shaving legs) and perfect hair e.g. This advert, compared to the other two, is not ideally placed on the right website because it doesn't relate to MTV in anyway, but it stands out which makes the audience's eye go directly to it.

Mastercard on Asos.co.uk
The third advert is on Asos.co.uk and it features an advert from Mastercard which is an american financial service. The advert is a banner type. It has a teal background with slanted bright, bold orange text saying, 'Epic' which is featured on either side of the advert. In the centre of the banner, the words, 'Make it an' in red, bold text and the rest of the sentence, '#Epic Summer' in the same orange, bright, bold text. The master card advert is also featured to the right of the centred text. I think this advertisement is mainly based a target audience of women/girls because it is featured on a clothing website, which it is well placed because Mastercard is also a payment method available on this particular website. Although the advert is quite bold and eye-catching, it is only featured at the bottom of the page, which the audience would only see by scrolling to the very bottom. It is also featured on this website because the two companies together are running a competition to win Justin Timberlake concert tickets, which can be won by clicking on the mastercard advert which takes you to another page and gives you details on how to win. To win, you must take a picture which 'sums up your summer' and post it online with the hashtag, '#EpicSummer' to be in with a chance of winning. This advert, compared to the other two, is very placed by location but not very well placed on the website as it is only viewable by scrolling to the bottom of the page.
